 My name is Redieat Abebe and I am an international student currently living in Nairobi, Kenya. I was born in Ethiopia but I've spent that last eight years in Kenya. In my free time I like to draw, paint, listen to music and go on social media. My first feelings for the class are that I am excited to learn more about digital media and how to use digital tools. I am a bit nervous that the class begins with the hardest unit but I know it will feel good to get it out of the way early in the semester. I've had little experience with Adobe apps so my expectations for the class are that it will be challenging but also rewarding and informational.

Portfolio

      The final project was to make a portfolio showcasing all the projects I made during the semester. I made this portfolio using InDesign. I had initially sketched a completely different cover, but as I began working I came up with a new cover idea. The idea for the cover was inspired by the Creation of Adam by Michelangelo.  The painting of the Creation of Adam depicts an image of God stretching out his finger to give Adam a spark of life. However, in my version, I am reaching out to touch the mouse I used to make the projects this semester. I made the image using Illustrator. I then added a cloudy background to match the heavenly scene within the original artwork.      The next two pages welcome and introduce me to the reader. Business Cards

I made my cards using the Indesign software where I made a 3.5 by 2-inch document with 0.25-inch margins and an 0.125-inch bleed. The main tools I used are the pen and type tool. Illustrator Tutorials

Tutorial #1      I think the tools that will be easy to use are the shape tools such as rectangle and star because it allows you to create a basic shape without using multiple lines. I really like the star tool and how you can increase the number of points the star has. You might use that tool for designing space-themed posters or designing logos. I think the pen tool might be hard to use but I think it will come in handy when trying to make custom shapes. I really like how the brush tool smooths out the brush strokes you make so it looks neater and it would be great to make custom fonts.  Tutorial #2      I think the tool that will be easy to use is the text tool because it allows you to type texts in so many various ways. I think using the type on a path tool will be the most useful when creating logos because it will allow you to wrap a text around a symbol.
